Empowering Women in Afghanistan

Former Laura Bush chief of staff and APCO International Advisory Council member Anita McBride was interviewed by MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell to discuss efforts to empower women as entrepreneurs in Afghanistan and other developing countries. McBride works with the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women (IEEW) to bring economic development to these areas. Watch the entire interview below.

The Post Election Foreign Policy Hangover

Yes, Obama is still Commander in Chief, and yes, the U.S. remains the world's sole superpower, but while foreign policy played nary a role in the midterm elections, the foreign policy fallout from the election drubbing is unavoidable. Every foreign journalist, every adversary, and every ally will be reading the tea leaves to make their own assessment how badly Obama was damaged by his party's loss of political and popular support, and either take it in stride, or dangerously miscalculate. Clearly, it's the latter problem that can have adverse consequences.

What Will Appeal to Moderates and Independents in 2010? A Republican’s Perspective

This coming election promises to be one of the most momentous midterms in our nation's history. The recession and the resulting “jobless recovery” have penetrated the body politic and will be on the minds of the majority of voters on November 2. For moderates and independents, everything else – social issues, the war in Afghanistan, the remaining troops in Iraq – will take a backseat to the economy.
